Fabric Information

HIGHLIGHT RANGE
This summer we have introduced a new dimension to our fabrications by sourcing light weight cotton silks and fine sheer silks in different weights and varieties. We have also utilised the latest digital imagery to portray bolder expressions of floral forms and softer delicate pastel arrangements.

Most of our prints are exclusive to KOOKAЇ and a high portion of fabrics are from Europe.

Through our highlight collection we use a range of base cloths such as silks, cotton silks, georgette, silk habitué, crepe de shine, organza jacquards etc.

MERINO WOOL
All of our basic wool base cloths such as the fine wool basics, wool jersey, and wool viscose are made from Merino wool. Merino wool has a natural stretch and breathability. It moves when you do, keeps you warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot and adds natural comfort. Merino wool is made of the finest grades of wool from Merino sheep. It is prized for being very soft and comfortable against the skin. Wool fabrics resist wrinkles. Wool is the most resilient fibre because it has a natural crimp that helps it keep its shape. Wool fibres can be stretched and still bounce back to their original shape.

VIRGIN WOOL
With the introduction of suiting to KOOKAЇ we have maintained our standard of quality and make with Fully lined jackets, pants and skirts with classic tailored cut and construction. All our suiting range will be sampled and manufactured in Australia from European fabrications. Throughout our suiting range we also encompass a wool yarn called Virgin Wool. Virgin Wool is wool that is spun and used for the first time. Thus, it comes straight from the source. Wool is strong, soft and durable. It does not wrinkle easily and is resistant to dirt and wear and tear. Wool is absorbent and keeps the wearer cool and comfortable.

VISCOSE
Viscose is a silk-like aesthetic with superb drape and feel and retains its rich brilliant colors. Its cellulosic base contributes many properties similar to those of cotton or other natural cellulosic fibers. It is moisture absorbent (more so than cotton), breathable, comfortable to wear, and easily dyed in vivid colors.

Viscose is comfortable, soft to the skin, and has moderate dry strength and abrasion resistance. Viscose is a non resilient fabric, which means that it will wrinkle. It will withstand ironing temperatures slightly less than those of cotton.

PIMA COTTON
The major difference between Pima cotton and “ordinary” cotton is the length of its fibre. Pima cotton has a longer fibre which creates the highest tensile strength found in any cotton product. This fibre structure makes Pima cotton 50% stronger than most standard forms of cotton creating high quality, durable garments that wash and wear exceptionally well. This durability combined with a soft texture, ensures only the finest quality cotton is used for the KOOKAÏ Basics range.

LEATHER
KOOKAЇ introduced leather 4 seasons ago and are continuing to broaden the range on offer. Leather fabric never ages, it will become softer and more beautiful the more it is worn. Leather is durable, wind resistant and will retain its shape.

Our main source of leather which is called "Soffiato Leather" is Italian lamb's leather; it is incredibly soft and comfortable to wear. The majority of our leather jackets are also made in Australia.

BASIC RANGE
A new addition to our existing basic range is a soft cotton fabrication. This is a light weight, cotton jersey that is a perfect for layering with our durable Pima Cotton offer. This fabrication will be very complimentary to the KOOKAÏ styling and easy to wear styles for summer.

SILK
Silk is known for its softness, lustre and luxurious look. The natural fibre is one of the strongest natural fabrics and is absorbent and comfortable to wear in all types of weather. KOOKAЇ uses several different silks in the summer collection including georgette, chiffon, crepe de chine and habitué.
